The slaves in Flaret that Gian rescued were sent to the Terran region by batch, some sent ahead of others. It happened that Galleon - who was in no condition to travel at the time - was part of the group temporarily left behind.

His departure was scheduled along with the Alterrans who were sent to Flaret to spy (except for Rowan, who had long left because of his new assignment), so he was a week later than the rest in reaching the Terran region. He was not privy to this, though.
