Not only was it clear that Raze had won the fight to himself, but Shay knew this as well. Unlike the other Deleters, she never thought this day would come, nor did she feel like she had some type of arrogance of her being better than anyone else.
She was just doing everything she could for the sake of her goal. Losing didn't come as a big shock to her, instead she was just drowning in her own sorrow about how she might not be able to continue her task.
These were the thoughts that were deep in her head. Which was why when the question was posed to her, she didn't understand and she had to ask the question.
