Jinshan is located near the Jialing River, while Xichuan is situated near the Jinma River, a tributary of the Minjiang. Both eventually flow into the main stream of the Yangtze River, so it's not surprising that Weishengjun would be encountered there.
What's strange is that, according to Qing Mulan's account, when she left, Weishengjun was still waiting by the Jinma River for grain transport ships. Since the Jinma River is upstream and the Jialing River is downstream, Weishengjun should have been behind Jin Feng, so how could he have ended up in front?
Jin Feng got up and hurried to the bow of the ship. Sure enough, he saw a fleet of ships on the river ahead.
