Below the dam was a reservoir, connected to a wide canal on its west side. Looking through binoculars, several gates could be vaguely seen in other directions around the reservoir, likely connected to other canals as well.
The western canal showed clear signs of human intervention, clearly man-made. The reservoir itself was similar, with obvious signs of construction along its edges.
The dam itself was new, likely built from excavated soil.
