After fiddling around for a while, the giant tortoise seemed to have eaten and drunk its fill, and then lay motionless in the pit.
Most of its body was buried in the soil, and from a distance it looked like a mound. But if you look closely, you can see that there is actually a pair of eyes hidden in the ground, constantly observing the surroundings.
Clearly, this giant tortoise was very vigilant and remained on guard as long as it knew danger lurked.
