Pryce was indeed manufacturing airships because, before airplanes became fully mature, airships could accomplish many things that airplanes couldn't.
For example... bombing!
The massive size of airships gives them a significant advantage in terms of payload, completely outperforming airplanes. The amount of weight modern airplanes can carry is astonishing.
