On the western bank of the Jinma River, on a vast expanse of riverbank, Tibetan soldiers were charging towards the armed guards. The guards were still disembarking from their boats.
When the Tibetan infantry reached within a few dozen paces of the caravan, all three hundred guards had successfully landed. At this point, the Tibetans were completely within range of the catapults, and with a single volley, one hundred and fifty Tibetans would be effectively eliminated.
However, to better understand the difference in combat effectiveness between the guards and the Tibetan cavalry, Zhang Liang refrained from using the catapults and heavy crossbows, allowing the Tibetan cavalry to approach.
